Shari is a founder, author, educator, parent advisor, public speaker and pioneer in the field of perinatal palliative care and infant death.
Shari is the founder of a charitable organization, Josiah's Journey, created in memory of her son, Josiah Morash, that supports the Paediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. Josiah's Journey has raised more than $180,000 to date supporting the acquisition of critical care medical equipment, research and education.
In addition to training, Shari lends her warmth and expertise as a Parent Advisor to the Paediatric Advanced Care Team at The Hospital for Sick Children – a team of palliative care professionals working with existing health care providers to ensure family needs are met – and as a member of the international Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance (PLIDA).
Shari’s book, Loving Your Baby... A Gentle and Practical Guide to Parenting Through Miscarriage, Stillbirth and Infant Death (2014) is designed to help parents and professionals navigate a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis and the first moments surrounding a child's death. Loving Your Baby... validates the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of parents when loss tragically comes at the beginning of life. Written by a bereaved mother who has walked this difficult road, Shari created a practical guide filled with valuable knowledge and understanding and in so doing has become a pioneering author in the area of perinatal palliative care and infant loss.
